UNFPA participated in the ‘5th International Conference on Action with Women and Peace’ on 30th Nov. 2023, Seoul, South Korea. The conference focused on examining current challenges and exploring ways for advancing the WPS agenda in the Security Council, while also highlighting the paramount roles women play as catalysts for peace.
Dr. Eiko Narita, as Chief of the Tokyo Office and Chief a.i. of the Seoul Representational Office participated as a panel speaker for the first session, Promoting the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda at the UNSC, and addressed the points below:
- The importance of the National Action Plan (NAP)
- The importance of localization
- The importance of youth
- 2023 as the midway point of the SDGs
- The importance of raising voices from the ground up to the Security Council
