The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea has decided to support UNFPA by providing contributions of approximately $786,000 in 2024, to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence in conflict-affected communities in Al Jazira and Gedaref States in Sudan. The project aims at preventing the risks of violence and mitigating the violence-related consequences for the most vulnerable populations in the affected areas.

The goal of the project is to ensure timely access to life-saving multisectoral GBV services, raise awareness on GBV and increase the coordination of the response between UN agencies and other actors involved in the response in Al Jazira and Gedaref states. The project targets 20,742 internally displaced people and conflict affected people in these two states including women, girls, boys and persons with disabilities through providing quality multisectoral GBV response services following a survivor-centered approach, as well as GBV risk mitigation and prevention measures.
