The first regular session of the Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS will be held in-person from 30 January to 3 February. 

UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem will deliver remarks on 2 February at 10 a.m. to commence the UNFPA segment of the meeting.

30 January 

The first regular session of the Executive Board of UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS has begun. UNFPA's Deputy Executive Directors Diene Keita and Ib Petersen were in attendance, with Diene discussing UNFPA's engagement with international financial institutions (IFIs) and its shift from funding to financing. Her remarks begin at 56:37.

"As part of our broader efforts to mobilize financing for our transformative results, we are committed to deepen the collaboration with IFIs," Diene said. 

Later, Ib spoke to the Board about UNFPA's implementation of recommendations made by the Board of Auditors in 2021, sharing updates on the agency's journey towards achieving the three transformative results, transition to Quantum and more. His remarks begin at 1:58:20.

During the afternoon session, the Board received updates on the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board meeting, discussed PSEAH and heard remarks by the chairperson of the Staff Council. Find recordings of both the morning and afternoon sessions below.

  • Update on UNDP, UNFPA and UNOPS engagement with the International Financial Institutions, and 
  • Recommendations of the Board of Auditors: UNDP, UNCDF, UNFPA and UNOPS reports on the status of implementation of the recommendations of the Board of Auditors for 2021

3 p.m. 

  • Follow-up to the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board Meeting: Joint UNDP and UNFPA report on the implementation of the decisions and recommendations of the Programme Coordinating Board of UNAIDS, 
  • Protection against sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment, and 
  • Address by the Chairperson of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS/UN-Women Staff Council.

  • Statement by Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem and interactive dialogue

3 p.m. 

  • Evaluation of UNFPA engagement in the reform of the United Nations development system, and management respons

10 a.m. 

  • UNFPA presentation, approval and extension of country programme documents (CPDs). Eighteen CPDs will be discussed; find the draft CPDs at this link under Item 10.
